3 favorable matchups for the Cardinals vs. the Rams in Week 14

DeAndre Hopkins vs. Jalen Ramsey

One of the game’s best receivers will face off with one of the game’s best cornerbacks. And Jalen Ramsey remains one of the best, ranking second out of 118 qualifying cornerbacks on Pro Football Focus. 

DeAndre Hopkins had just two receptions and played in just 75 percent of the snaps last week against the Bears. But his touchdown reception was one of his most memorable all season. And while Hopkins will play in just his second game following a hamstring injury, he’s got the favorable matchup in this one.

One reason is the presence of AJ Green, Zach Ertz, Christian Kirk, and Rondale Moore. This will force the Rams to key on more than just Hopkins, giving him plenty of one-on-one matchups against the All-Pro cornerback.

Hopkins, despite bumps in 2021, has posted a career-best 72.5 catch percentage, topping last season’s percentage of 71.9. Since he will line up against Ramsey and get one-on-one coverage, look for Kyler Murray to look his way often.

And considering Hopkins’ ability to win one-on-one matchups, don’t be surprised when he wins Round 2 against Ramsey.
