Maxx Williams – TE

As Arizona entered the 2021 regular season, one of the biggest question marks surrounding the club was their talent at the tight end position. Seventh-year pro Maxx Williams was anointed the starter, but many fans had reservations about how much the 27-year-old could actually contribute to the offensive unit.

Williams put those fears to rest by getting off to a fantastic start for the Cards, but a knee injury suffered in Week 5 prematurely ended his campaign. Keim acquired three-time Pro Bowler Zach Ertz as a replacement, a trade that has placed Williams’ future with the team in doubt.

Both Williams and Ertz are scheduled to hit free agency, and retaining both tight ends is probably unrealistic. Logic indicates that the Cardinals will make a strong attempt to keep Ertz and allow Williams to pursue an opportunity somewhere else.
