Obtaining a free agent cornerback who can upgrade the position should be a top priority for the Arizona Cardinals in 2022.
Back in August, the Arizona Cardinals defense was dealt a mighty blow. A punch to the gut that the unit never fully recovered from.
Malcolm Butler, an offseason acquisition who was brought in to replace Patrick Peterson, decided to retire. Suddenly, the Cards were devoid of a number-one cornerback. Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph would have to do his best with a group of cover guys who were full of question marks.
Third-year professional Byron Murphy started strong, but he faded down the stretch. Marco Wilson turned in an up and down performance until a shoulder injury sidelined the rookie in late December. Robert Alford managed to play in 13 matchups for the Cardinals before a torn pectoral muscle ended the campaign for the fragile veteran.
Obviously, Arizona needs help at one of football’s most vital positions. The following are four potential free-agent cornerbacks that the organization could pursue.
