Week 17 win over Minnesota in 2003

Other than Anquan Boldin, there wasn’t much to cheer for during the Cardinals’ 2003 season. And come Week 17, the were all but reverted back to playing their spoiler role. But that didn’t mean anyone gave them a chance against the Minnesota Vikings, who stumbled to 9-6 after starting the season 6-0.

The Cardinals were further underdogs in this one, considering they hadn’t won a game since November 2nd of that season in a 17-14 thriller against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Cardinals, down 17-6 in the fourth quarter, cut their deficit to five points following a Josh McCown touchdown pass to Steve Bush.

On the final play of the game, McCown dropped back, rolled to his right, and found Nate Poole in the back of the endzone. Two Vikings defenders tried to push Poole out, but he managed to get one foot down and control of the ball, which at the time counted as a reception.

The game catapulted the Green Bay Packers into the playoffs. And for his efforts, the City of Green Bay presented Poole with a Key to the City.
