Fourth Round (Pick No. 103)

Hakeem Butler – WR (Iowa State)

Hakeem Butler’s 6-foot-5, 227-pound frame caught the attention of scouts all over the NFL. His listed height at the NFL Combine was actually 6-foot-5 and 3/8. Talk about an imposing receiver. Add a stellar 4.48-second sprint in the 40-yard-dash, and it’s logical to think the Cardinals ended up with a steal in the fourth round. Especially considering his 22 yards per catch in 2018 at Iowa State.

Unfortunately, Butler never even recorded an NFL statistic. He bounced around the league for stints with the Cardinals (2019), the Carolina Panthers practice squad (2020), and the Philadelphia Eagles active roster (also 2020).

After spending a season out of the NFL, he has since signed on with the Canadian Football League’s BC Lions. Unless Butler redeems himself north of the border, his NFL career is over.

Grade: F

Butler was probably the worst selection of the Cardinals’ 2019 NFL Draft class. You often think of sixth and seventh-round picks not getting a chance in the league. Not the draft’s 103rd overall pick.
