Cardinals 53-man roster predictions following the 2022 NFL Draft
By Sion Fawkes
Now that the 2022 NFL Draft is in the books, it is time to project who earns a spot on the Arizona Cardinals 53-man roster.
You can argue the Arizona Cardinals once again went the glamor route when they traded a first-round pick for Marquise Brown and drafted Trey McBride in the second round. But you can’t deny that Steve Keim’s wheeling and dealing landed quarterback Kyler Murray two marquee contributors.
Where do the newcomers like Brown and McBride stand on the projected roster? It depends on what happens this summer with OTAs approaching and training camp in July. But let’s have some fun and predict who will most likely be in a Cardinals uniform when September rolls around.
Quarterbacks (3)
Kyler Murray, Colt McCoy, Trace McSorley
While things looked spotty for Murray earlier in the offseason, the Cardinals picked up his fifth-year option and reunited him with Brown, who is a former teammate at Oklahoma. With such an arsenal of skill players around him, Murray must now prove he can produce for an entire season.
McCoy’s experience gives him the nod over Trace McSorely. He also provided adequate spot starts when Murray went down with an ankle injury last October. However, McSorley’s playing style mimics Murray’s, so look for him to earn a roster spot as the third-string quarterback in 2022 with the potential to develop into a key backup later.
