15 all-time greatest draft picks in Arizona Cardinals history
The 14th-best Arizona Cardinals draft pick ever: Pat Tillman
Every Arizona Cardinals fan knows the legend of Pat Tillman. He was a seventh-round draft pick turned franchise player who spurned football to defend his country after the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in New York.
If you were too young to see this or were born after, please understand that it was this generation’s Pearl Harbor. Tillman enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was ultimately killed by friendly fire- and the government tried to cover it up.
This was highly detailed in the phenomenal book Where Men Win Glory by Jon Krakauer. This is a must-own for any Cardinals fan as it gave a detailed look into why Tillman was who he was.
Tillman didn’t have the most impressive stats, but his death and sacrifice show that he is the consummate man and Arizona Cardinal. Tillman hit hard on the field, and the loss of him from our lives hits hard in Americans’ hearts.
