As the oldest NFL franchise, the Arizona Cardinals have given out a lot of contracts in their 102-year history. So which are the biggest ones?
With Kyler Murray’s contract negotiations being a headline issue for the Arizona Cardinals this offseason – and sources like Pro Football Focus estimating a 6-year, $280 million contract incoming – it seems fitting to take a look at some of the biggest deals handed out by the franchise.
Clearly, quarterbacks, wide receivers, and cornerbacks have historically demanded large amounts of money, but you might be surprised at some of the other deals on this list.
Unfortunately, not every big-money deal works out, and frequently teams are left in the lurch owing a player who no longer produces huge amounts of cash.
These contracts will be considered by the terms of the deal at the time of signing and by the total value rather than yearly averages. Again, this is because we are looking at the amount the Cardinals were willing to pay rather than what actually transpired with every deal.
We’ll be going position by position and looking at the biggest deals in franchise history and trying to determine if those contracts were worth it.
