J.J. Watt cannot miss time either for the Arizona Cardinals

Even before he officially suited up in Marshall Goldberg’s 99 jersey in Week 1, J.J. Watt was already the leader of the defense. Arguably the best and most vocal defender the Cardinals have ever had. While Watt didn’t light up the stat sheet himself, he elevated those around him.

When he suffered an arm injury against the Texans and then continued to play on it, every Arizona Cardinals fan knew that the team was in trouble. The second half of the season showed that in the win/loss column.

Maybe Watt is more of a rotational player to spare him and keep his quality of snaps high as possible. But in a  3-4 defense, Watt’s presence is undeniable, and the Cardinals need to have him there every step of the way.
