The Arizona Cardinals have plenty of solid players ready to contribute in 2022. But there are a few reliable names you may not have considered.

The Arizona Cardinals are looking for some redemption heading into the 2022 season. Last, it was a season of fools gold as the Cardinals started the year off 7-0 only to stumble their way to an 11-6 finish, 11-7 if you count the playoffs. So if you do the math, they finished the season at 4-7, which will be unacceptable in 2022.

Even more unfortunate, they will be without receiver DeAndre Hopkins for six games because of a suspension. Things can be even more alarming considering Kyler Murray has a clause in his contract that mandates four hours per week of independent film study in favor of playing video games or watching television.

That’s not exactly the best way to begin a season when your best offensive players already have some controversy surrounding them in July. But luckily, the Cardinals have a few gems in the rough who could help them out, including the following underrated players at each position. Let’s meet them.

Breaking down the most underrated Arizona Cardinals at each position: Player #1 – Colt McCoy, QB

Last season, when Kyler Murray went down with an injury, Colt McCoy stepped in and played admirably, finishing 2-1 and compiling a 101.4 quarterback rating. Murray should be back to full strength this season, but he has battled injuries since he entered the league, including trying to play through a sprained AC joint in 2020.

McCoy makes this list as a quarterback because of his ability to step in and provide spot starts in case another injury occurs. No, he isn’t the type of quarterback you want starting for an extended time, as his 10-23 record indicates. But he is a 13-year veteran who knows the game and can quickly adapt to many situations.

If Murray were to go down with an injury, Cardinals fans should not panic. McCoy will at least keep them competitive.
