The Arizona Cardinals lost a close game to the New England Patriots in 1986

The Cardinals’ third Hall of Fame game saw them take on the New England Patriots in their awesome “Pat Patriot” uniforms. I was finally able to find a box score for this game, and there was a lot less historical significance to this game than their 1974 outing.

The Cardinals led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, but could only muster two field goals the rest of the game as the Patriots scored 14 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach for the redbirds.

47. Final. 16. 32. 21

As for the regular season, 1986 was one to forget as the team’s penultimate season in St.Louis. The redbirds finished an abysmal 4-11-1 in 1986, with the team’s only Pro Bowlers being Ron Wolfley and Vai Sikahema.

The Cardinals dropped to 1-1-1 in three Hall of Fame Games. Onto the fourth!
