Arizona Cardinals Fantasy Football: Who to start/sit in Week 5
By Sion Fawkes
The Arizona Cardinals are banged up once again with injuries all over the place. But they still have a few would-be fantasy football aces this week.
The Arizona Cardinals are facing a tough defense this week in the Philadelphia Eagles. And given the rash of injuries that continue to decimate the team, you may look the other way when setting your fantasy roster.
To an extent, you might be right. But there are a few on the Cardinals offense that may be worth starting as opposed to sitting. Below, you will find two names to start and one to sit. Let’s check them out.
1 – Greg Dortch will light up the stat sheet
Dortch had his least productive game as a Cardinal last week, snagging just one catch for six yards. However, the return of Rondale Moore, a player with a similar build and skill set, likely contributed to the pedestrian outing.
But don’t make the mistake in thinking Dortch will become an afterthought. Moore had a poor performance in Week 4, meaning you should see more of Dortch in Week 5. If Dortch continues to impress as the Moore experiment keeps failing, starting Dortch weekly may be a good idea if you play in deeper leagues.
2 – James Conner should be part of the Arizona Cardinals committee
The Arizona Cardinals running backs flourished as a unit last Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Of course, given the efficacy of the committee approach, look for more of the same this week, which will limit James Conner’s touches.
Overall, I’m looking for even more distribution between Conner, Darrel Williams, and Eno Benjamin. And with Conner toiling with the lowest yards per carry, it would be wise to sit him unless you think the Cardinals will be handing the ball to their supposed power back at the goal line often.
3 – Ertz could be huge in the red zone
Last season, the Eagles traded Ertz to the Cardinals, so this one will be a revenge outing for the former Pro Bowler in Ertz. And it’s not like the aging Ertz has seen an immense drop in production. In four games, he has two touchdowns and 22 receptions, putting him on pace for 94 catches and eight scores.
And with extra motivation he will undoubtedly feel against his old team, look for Ertz to have a huge outing. Further, Ertz has also landed in the Top 12 in fantasy points every single week. If there is one tight end to start in Week 5 besides your Travis Kelces of the world, it’s Zach Ertz. He will reward you nicely.
