Arizona Cardinals: Brown and Hopkins may be a top tandem
The Arizona Cardinals offense may look bleak, but help is on the way as DeAndre Hopkins returns in Week 7, ending a six-game suspension.
A few months back I wrote about how Marquise “Hollywood” Brown could have a career season in the Cardinals offense and once again be paired with his college quarterback Kyler Murray. So far throughout the first five weeks of the season that has been the case.
So far Hollywood Brown is second in routes run, second in targets, fourth in catches, and sixth in receiving yards. Brown has shown tremendous improvement at the catch point and has shown much more ability after the catch. He has added a dynamic level to the offense that they hoped to get from Andy Isabella and Rondale Moore.
The Cardinals will get Deandre Hopkins back in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints and this offense can go to a different stratosphere. Brown and Hopkins play off each other well with Brown being the dynamic deep threat and Hopkins as the dominant #1 wide receiver he’s shown to be since coming into the league.
Arizona Cardinals offense will fly with Brown, Hopkins
Currently, the Cardinals are 15th in total offense, 18th in points per game, and 17th in passing yards per game. I expect all three of these to go up mightily upon Hopkins return. Arizona has struggled running the ball and has yet to score a single point in the first quarter so far this season.
They have a lackluster running game ranking 18th in yards per attempt at 4.3. The run game should improve too as teams will have to focus on the dynamic duo of Brown and Hopkins.
The Arizona Cardinals sit at 2-3 within a game of first place in the NFC West. Arizona travels to Seattle, home to New Orleans, goes to Minnesota, then home again to Seattle. Those are four winnable games and none of those defenses have been overly great against the pass.
Arizona being able to win this week against the Seahawks and then getting Hopkins back against the Saints, Vikings, and Seahawks before going into the bye could help the Cardinals position themselves in a good spot in the NFC playoff picture.
