The Arizona Cardinals are looking to salvage their season in tonight’s game against the New Orleans Saints. And one player can help out their cause.
The Arizona Cardinals need to find a way to keep their season alive and defeat the New Orleans Saints tonight. If they lose, the Redbirds will drop to 2-5, and will most likely miss the playoffs unless they can find a way to pull off a miracle run in the season’s second half.
DeAndre Hopkins could not have chosen a better time to return. And while a team’s success shouldn’t hinge on one player, especially with a supposed offensive guru at head coach, the Cardinals should find it easier to score with their best player returning.
Whether the offense will score enough in the points column to win tonight is another story. But there is a good chance Hopkins will return with a bang. And that’s why he is the subject of our last-minute bold prediction.
Hopkins scores, logs 100-plus receiving yards for Arizona Cardinals
In my optimistic predictions piece, I had Hopkins scoring one touchdown in tonight’s outing. I’m going to go further and project he adds 100 receiving yards to that score, giving him a dynamic performance for his first game back.
While the Arizona Cardinals offense has struggled mightily over the first six weeks of the season, Hopkins showed time and again last year that his presence can transform the Red Birds attack into one of the league’s better units. Whether that occurs tonight remains to be seen, but you can expect quarterback Kyler Murray to throw toward his favorite target early and often.
Look for Hopkins to get plenty of looks in the end zone, and if he hauls in enough targets, he should encroach the 100-yard mark with relative ease. He will also have Zach Ertz there to take away some coverage, and Robbie Anderson is also slated to play in select packages.
