Arizona Cardinals: Last-minute prediction vs. the Vikings in Week 8
By Sion Fawkes
The Arizona Cardinals face a tough opponent in the Minnesota Vikings. Here is one last-minute prediction for the Week 8 matchup.
The Arizona Cardinals offense will most likely come to life thanks to DeAndre Hopkins presence since Kyler Murray and Kliff Kingsbury have all but proven they cannot elevate anyone’s talent through the first eight weeks of the season. That said, I’m not going to get so bold and predict Hopkins goes off and logs something crazy.
He’s going to get his yards, and that’s all there is to it. Even if Patrick Peterson is once again looking like one of the league’s better corners having allowed a measly 48.2% completion percentage and a 52.1 quarterback rating. Hopkins can make any corner look foolish; even one who is enjoying a bit of a renaissance this season.
So who’s going to help Kyler Murray snag a ticket to a flag football game in January? There is another aging player that can make life tough for an opponent, and fortunately, he’s wearing red and white.
Arizona Cardinals tight end goes off in Week 8
If one thing is an absolute given on the Minnesota Vikings, it is that they can’t cover across the middle. Not Eric Kendricks, not Jordan Hicks, and even safety Harrison Smith, despite decent advanced coverage statistics, will have a tough time with a talent like Ertz.
The 32-year-old tight end is in his 10th season, and is still making things look easy on the field with 37 receptions and 320 receiving yards. Today, I’m projecting Ertz to take off for at least 5 catches, 60 yards, 12.0 yards per reception, and that he will double his seasonal touchdown output in putting up two scores.
Look for Ertz to be a threat to snag a red zone reception or two, en route to a hard fought game today. And it might just spell the difference between a win and a loss.
