The Arizona Cardinals have a potential dynamic duo brewing at wide receiver in DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Brown that could debut on Monday.

The Arizona Cardinals have been decimated with injuries. Zach Ertz won’t be back this season, D.J. Humphries is missing his second straight contest, the works, but the Redbirds might just have Marquise Brown pairing with DeAndre Hopkins for the first time this season. Whether Kyler Murray or Colt McCoy starts this Monday, they could have a huge boost with what might be a dynamic duo at wide receiver for the injury-riddled Cardinals.

Just how good have Hopkins and Brown been this season? Despite having never lined up alongside one another, they have a combined 79 receptions, 881 yards, and five touchdowns. Mind you, the duo has played in just a combined 10 contests, with Brown missing the last four games because of a foot injury while Hopkins missed the first six with a suspension.

Hopkins, Brown could carry the Arizona Cardinals

Here’s the bad news: Neither Colt McCoy nor Kyler Murray are capable of lifting a team on their shoulders and carrying them. McCoy is a career backup who never won when given the opportunity to start full-time while Murray is on pace to go 0 for 4 in winning a division title. Unless Hopkins and Brown can indeed carry the stagnant Cardinals offense to new heights.

And if they can, watch out. Regardless of who lines up behind center, both McCoy and Murray could excel with two Pro Bowl-caliber targets on the field. As long as they get rid of the ball quick enough, which is why I’m still giving McCoy the nod here.

Overall, it will be interesting to see if this duo indeed takes the field together, and what kind of havoc they can wreak on opposing defenses. If the Cardinals offensive line was healthier, then I would say they would be a shoo-in to make this an interesting game. Even without a line, if one of our two quarterbacks play their cards right, you might see at least a well-played game from the Arizona Cardinals.

Update: Hopkins is currently listed as Questionable with a hamstring issue.
