The Arizona Cardinals held their own on offense, considering the numerous injuries the unit sustained throughout the 2025 season. The team saw quarterback Kyler Murray on injured reserve since Week 5 while also seeing three of their running backs suffer season-ending injuries.
However, If we were being completely honest, it was the wide receiver room that underwent the most change throughout the year.
First, Marvin Harrison Jr., the former top-five draft pick from 2024 missed four games with an illness, as well as a heel injury. This was the elephant in the room. Luckily for Arizona, they saw the emergence of Michael Wilson, the third-year out of Stanford. In his absence, he recorded 499 receiving yards with three touchdowns.
Aside from the first two options in the wide receiver room, Arizona went through so many different pass catchers this season. Xavier, Weaver, Andre Baccellia, and Trent Sherfield Sr. are a few examples.
Most of these fringe roster guys were signed off the practice squad, meaning their contracts expired at season’s end. For one, his season will continue, as he signed with a Super Bowl contender in the AFC.

Trent Sherfield Sr. signs with New England Patriots
The Patriots signed Sherfield to sure up their receiver depth, the same exact reason that the Cardinals signed him.
In the two games he played with the Cardinals, Sherfield didn’t bring in any catches, but he was only targeted once. He did catch three balls for 21 yards in his time on the Denver Broncos ahead of joining Arizona.
Sherfield, 29, will join Stefon Diggs, Kayshon Boutte, Kyle Williams, and Demario Dougles in the receiver room. These four have helped second-year quarterback Drake Maye take a massive leap from his rookie year.
While the Cardinals are priortizing the head coach search, free agency, and the NFL Draft. Sherfield is looking to help bring New England bring their seventh Super Bowl in 24 years.
