The Arizona Cardinals are in that stage where they can only request to interview candidates, as most of their targets are currently coaching in the postseason at the moment.
Obviously, with the Wild Card round being officially wrapped up, more candidates become available for the interview process.
As we’ve previously mentioned, general manager Monti Ossenfort has a plethora of candidates on his plate that he wants to slate for interviews. From former head coaches, coordinators, and assistants, he must get this year’s hire correct. If not, his job might go up in flames.
Ossenfort may be on the right track, however, as he has spoken to a former Super Bowl champion head coach. One who has not only developed one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but has also won with game managers at the helm

Cardinals were one of the teams to chat with former Ravens head coach John Harbaugh
(Reported by Darren Urban)
Harbaugh wasn’t fired because the Ravens were doing poorly; it was more of a fact that he had been there for 18 years, and the relationship had finally run its course. But in his long tenure with the team, Harbaugh had amazing success. First, winning the XLVII in the 2012 season with Joe Flacco at quarterback was definitely the highlight. That should go without saying.
Second, Harbaugh developed one of the league’s best quarterbacks in the game right now in Lamar Jackson, who the team drafted with the last pick in the first round of 2018’s draft.
With it being more than likely that the Cardinals bring in a young quarterback for 2026, whether via the draft or taking a chance on someone in free agency, it would be wise to have a guy like Harbaugh standing with him all the way through his development.
It would be incredibly smart for Ossenfort to hire a vetted coach to be his signal caller, as this is likely the only chance he will have to pick a coach. It is safe to say that his job depends on him getting this hire correct.
