Cardinals longest tenured defender questionable for Sunday after being limited in practice Thursday

This would be a massive loss for the defense as they try to crawl back into playoff contention.

Budda Baker, the longest-tenured player on Arizona’s defense, popped up on the team’s injury report with a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable for the team’s game on the road against the Seattle Seahawks (6–2).

Arizona went through a walkthrough on Tuesday, then ran practice as normal on Wednesday and Thursday during which Baker was a limited participant both days. While he is on the report, the fact that he was able to participate in some capacity is a good sign for Arizona as the team moves closer to Sunday.

Baker, 29, was selected in the second round (pick No. 36) in 2017 and has been a leader and cornerstone of the defense, playing under four different head coaches throughout his career. The 2025 season has been no different; he has played every snap on defense for the team.

Baker earned himself a decent payday when he signed a three-year, $54 million contract extension in December of 2024.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon has a massive injury report heading into Week 10, with 11 players listed. Right guard Will Hernandez (knee) was limited in today’s practice, while cornerback Max Melton (concussion), linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. (ribs), and cornerback Will Johnson (hip/back) were all sidelined with their respective injuries.

Some good news: edge rusher BJ Ojulari, who missed all of last season with a torn ACL, was a limited participant in both practices. The 23-year-old’s 21-day practice window was opened a little more than a week ago as he works to officially be activated from it.

The Cardinals will have practice tomorrow and a walkthrough on Saturday before taking off for the Pacific Northwest. Injury designations are subject to change, and we will find out more information closer to game day on Baker, as well as everyone else who appeared on the report.
