Cardinals may have found a stud on offense despite the loss

Michael Wilson may be one of the brightest young stars on this Cardinal offense.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals dropped their third consecutive game on Sunday as they lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in overtime 27–24 at State Farm Stadium.

Despite the loss, the silver lining from the week before remained present, as wide receiver Michael Wilson eclipsed 100 yards for the second straight game. The 25-year-old hauled in ten catches for 110 yards, just a week after posting 15-for-185.

This is Wilson’s second consecutive week filling in the role as the team’s No. 1 wide receiver, as Marvin Harrison Jr. missed his second straight game after undergoing an appendectomy.

What Cardinals fans should love about this is the fact that Wilson is barely eating up any cap space. A former third-round draft pick out of Stanford in 2023, Wilson is only earning around $1.4 million per year, meaning he is playing way above what he is worth.

The emergence of Wilson has made Arizona’s receiving corps look pretty solid, and we can only imagine what it would look like when fully healthy. A three-man attack of Marvin Harrison Jr., Trey McBride, and Michael Wilson could prove to be dynamic, especially with a quarterback as fearless as Jacoby Brissett, who is not afraid to sling the ball downfield and give his receivers a chance.

Thus far in his first three seasons, Wilson has caught 132 passes for 1,647 yards, along with eight touchdowns. He has easily been one of the best value draft picks from 2023, and his emergence over the past two weeks has been fantastic to see.

The loss against Jacksonville wraps up the Cardinals' homestand, as they now take to the East Coast to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We can only imagine Harrison will be ready to go, which means the trio will be fully healthy. It will be interesting to see if everyone will be prepared so we can unlock the full potential of this offense.
