ARLINGTON, Texas — Jacoby Brissett completed 21 of 31 passes for 261 yards and accounted for three total touchdowns as Arizona snapped their five-game losing streak with a 27-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys on national television.
It was Brissett’s third consecutive start this season in the absence of Kyler Murray, who is still nursing the right foot injury he suffered in the team’s Week 5 loss against the Tennessee Titans.
Brissett relied heavily on Marvin Harrison Jr., who caught seven of ten targets for 96 yards, scoring a touchdown on a crisp route with Daron Bland in coverage. Eighty of Harrison’s receiving yards came in the first half.
Dallas gave themselves a chance before halftime when Sam Williams broke through to block Pat O’Donnell’s punt, resulting in a recovery for a touchdown by Marshawn Kneeland.
Dak Prescott completed 24 of 39 passes for 250 yards with one touchdown pass, as well as one interception. He finished the game with a passer rating of 77.9.
The Cardinals opened the second half with a three-play drive that started with a 24-yard completion from Brissett to wide receiver Michael Wilson and was capped off by a 12-yard touchdown pass to tight end Trey McBride.
McBride finished the game with five catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Ryan Flournoy scored the lone offensive touchdown for the Cowboys, a five-yard reception in the back-left corner of the endzone.
Defensive lineman Walter Nolen III made his NFL debut for the Cardinals. The 16th overall pick out of Mississippi made a huge tackle for loss on the team’s opening series, a drive that was capped off by a sack of quarterback Dak Prescott by Josh Sweat three plays later on fourth down.
Nolen also batted down a Prescott pass near the end of the third quarter. “He’s different than anyone we have,” head coach Jonathan Gannon said. The play proved crucial, as Dallas went on to turn it over on downs three plays later.
The Cardinals head into Week 10 at 3-5 and will likely welcome back quarterback Kyler Murray from injury on the road against the Seattle Seahawks. As for Dallas, it heads into the bye week with a 3-5-1 record.
