Kyzir White had a productive 2024 season for the Arizona Cardinals, probably the best of his seven-year NFL career.
White was a solid, run-stopping inside linebacker for a Cardinals team that ranked only 19th in rushing defense and 21st overall on defense. But White’s 137 tackles weren’t enough for the two-time captain to be re-signed by the Cardinals when free agency began in March.
White remains a free agent, available to any team. Even though he hasn’t been signed, yet, he should have some suitors as the NFL offseason continues.
One of those suitors should be the defensive-needy Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN NFL analyst Bill Barnwell. The Cowboys had the 28th-ranked defense in 2024 and Barnwell believes the Cowboys would be a great fit for White.
Colts, Texans are good fit for former Cardinals linebacker
Barnwell wrote that two other teams would be a good place for White: the Colts and Texans. The Colts were ranked 29th and Texans ranked sixth in defense in 2024.
Barnwell also wrote that White wasn’t an ideal fit for Arizona, but mentioned that a “reunion would probably make the most sense” for White and the Cardinals. But with the Cardinals signing free-agent linebackers Akeem Davis-Gaither and Mykal Walker, White’s time in Arizona might be finished.
Bleacher Report linked White to another team: the Buccaneers. Bleacher Report wrote a story linking one free agent that could help each NFL team and matched White with Tampa Bay. Bleacher Report linked the Cardinals to former Eagles cornerback James Bradberry.
“The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added Anthony Walker Jr. in free agency and will bring back Lavonte David for his 14th season with the franchise,” Bleacher Report wrote.
“Adding 29-year-old linebacker Kyzir White to the mix would make a ton of sense for Tampa.”
White played two strong seasons in Arizona — 2023 and 2024. He had 227 tackles, 4.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and 18 tackles for loss with the Cardinals.
Another option for the Cardinals to improve at linebacker is through the draft. Mock drafts have linked the Cardinals to Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell with the 16th overall pick.
The NFL Draft will be held April 24 to 26 in Green Bay.
