The New York Giants are yet another team who could trade for star Arizona Cardinals receiver, DeAndre Hopkins. How is this move possible?

The Arizona Cardinals may seek to get younger, and in doing so, trading star receiver DeAndre Hopkins might be on their agenda. There are several teams out there who may seek to trade for Hopkins, as we previously mentioned the Kansas City Chiefs. But the New York Giants may also be in the running, with Brad Spielberger of PFF projecting the surprise team from 2022 winning the sweepstakes.

As you know, the Giants went farther than most critics believed they would go in 2022, ending up in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs before they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. If New York plans on making another playoff run, they must improve their pass-catching unit, since no receiver on the team recorded over 57 receptions, 724 yards, and four touchdowns last season.

If the Giants trade for Hopkins, they may be willing to give up quite a bit to acquire the 30-year-old. Chances are, they will keep quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley, so Hopkins would give the Giants a remarkable set of triplets that they've been lacking in the Big Apple.

Could the Arizona Cardinals trade Hopkins to the Giants?

While Spielberger listed a second and fifth round pick for Hopkins, the Cards could theoretically get more than that, given New York's situation. The Giants currently hold the 25th pick in the NFL Draft, and they could be willing to part ways with the pick if it means trading for a potentially game-changing receiver.

Sure, Hopkins is older, but he proved last season that he was still capable of putting up elite numbers, even after a long layoff. And if the Cards have multiple bidders on the table for Hopkins, expect that projected second-rounder to turn into a first.

That said, Arizona could likely swap Hopkins for at least the 25th overall pick, and perhaps even the third-round compensatory selection they received in October when they shipped Kadarius Toney to the Chiefs. While it may sound farfetched, the Giants lack the big, proven target that Hopkins still is.

There are a slew of potential destinations for Hopkins, thanks to the attention he will draw from upper-echelon teams in 2023. And while the New York Giants weren't often mentioned previously, don't be surprised if the Cards trade him to their former division rival for a pair of much-needed draft picks.
