Cardinals Roundup

With only ten days until the first training camp practices begin, the Arizona Cardinals negotiations with players have gone in both directions.  Third round draft pick, WR Early Doucett, from Louisiana State, signed his contract today and will report on time to training camp.  This is a good sign, considering the uncertainty of the status of WR Anquan Boldin.

Going in the other direction is LB Karlos Dansby.  By not agreeing to an extended contract by today, he is not able to work on an extension until after the season ends, given that he has been tagged as the franchise player.  This may be Dansby’s last season in Arizona.  It would be disappointing to see him have a great season only to see him enter the world of free agency and find his way on to a contender’s roster.  If Dansby does have an all-pro season, don’t expect him to remain an Arizona Cardinal after 2008, no matter how much they offer him.

Hopefully there will be more good news to come in the upcoming week leading up to the start of camp.  Only 10 days!  Yeah!  Go Cards!
