Patrick Peterson Wins Special Teams Award Again

He did it again. The Arizona Cardinals first round pick, cornerback/punt return specialist Patrick Peterson, won his second NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors of his short career.  Now 11 games into his career, Peterson won the NFC award this week for his 80-yard punt return for touchdown.  It was his fourth punt return for touchdown of the season, tying the NFL record for one-season.

Another interesting fact about the punt return.  Oh yeah, he told St. Louis Rams punter Donnie Jones before the game not to punt to him or else.  Well, Jones made a mistake and punted one right down the middle of the field.  Peterson made him pay.  All four of his punt returns for TD’s this season have been at least 80 yards.

For his part, Peterson thinks he has at least a couple more in him this season.  We’ll see.  No one has ever had five in one season.  They have some stiff competition over the last five weeks and the one team he has two against, the Rams, well, they are done with.  He’ll have to go warn another punter ahead of time.
