It’s been the tale of two seasons for the Arizona Cardinals in 2012.  The first season was in September when they went undefeated at 4-0.  Since then, they are 1-10.  With the exception of the game in Seattle a couple of weeks ago, the lack of wins has mainly been because of the lack of offense.  The Cards face the San Francisco 49’ers in the season finale.  The Cards will start their fourth quarterback this season, Brian Hoyer.

Hoyer was signed just under three weeks ago after Kevin Kolb was put on Injured Reserve.  Hoyer could provide a spark and also could be playing for a backup position in 2013.  At the very least, it gives the Cards a fresh look.  Hoyer did play in a backup role last week, however this will be his first start.

The real drama will be on the Niners side of things.  They are still trying to secure the NFC West title.  If they lose today and the Seattle Seahawks win today, then the Hawks would win the division title.  So, it does appear the Cards have something to play for after all.

What they really have to play for though is pride.  With only one win in the past 11 weeks, there will be a lot of evaluation going on.  That evaluation will include players and team personnel.  It could be the last time to make an impression for many, including head coach Ken Whisenhunt.  We shall see.
