The Chiefs Number One Pick Is For Sale But Arizona Cardinals Shouldn’t Bite

The Kansas City Chiefs have made it known they are willing to take offers for the number one pick in the NFL Draft in April.  Let’s hope the Arizona Cardinals don’t get duped by Andy Reid for the second time in two years.  As much as I still like Kevin Kolb, the Cardinals certainly overpaid to get him.  Now, with the Chiefs looking at possibly staying with the quarterbacks they have for now and no quarterback worthy of a top pick or even a first round pick for that matter, they are listening to offers.  The Cardinals or any other team will end up giving up more than the top pick is worth.

In my next mock draft, I guarantee the Cardinals will not be taking Matt Barkley, who a few weeks ago I thought would still be on the radar.  That has changed.  Luke Joeckel from Texas A&M is a guy the Cards could use and he is the only one I’d feel comfortable with the Cards even entertaining the idea of moving up for.  At what price though?  There are other guys they can get.  There are a couple of other guys they could go after other than Joeckel that high in the draft.  Eric Fisher from Central Michigan and Lane Johnson from Oklahoma come to mind.

Joeckel is a guy that many are predicting could go overall number one now.  The Cards aren’t the only team in need of an OT, however it is one of their greatest needs and others know it.  I guarantee Reid knows it.  I can’t see the Cards getting duped by him again though.  As much as I would love to see Joeckel in a Cards uniform, it’s not a feeling that needs to be addressed at all costs.  Don’t give up the future for the immediate present.
