The Arizona Cardinals players may have been off on Tuesday, however that didn’t keep the team from completing some transactions on their practice squad.  They signed two players onto the practice squad and released one player.

The Cards signed wide receivers Dan Buckner and Brittan Golden.  They released wide receiver Sam McGuffie.  Buckner was with the Cards during training camp and was amongst the final cuts to get to the 53-man roster.  He was one of the receivers I had predicted to make the roster when training camp started however he was outplayed by receivers Jaron Brown and Kerry Taylor.  Taylor was just signed off the practice squad this past Saturday.

Buckner, from the University of Arizona, almost really became a victim of numbers but it certainly didn’t help that he didn’t make the types of plays Brown and Taylor did.  I had a feeling though we might see him again.  Clearly the attention on the receiver position shows that the Cards may be more concerned about receiver Larry Fitzgerald than they are publicly letting on.

As for Golden, he recently was cut by the Chicago Bears.  He returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in their final preseason game, however was cut after that.  He has previously been on the practice squads of the Bears and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
