On Monday the Arizona Cardinals lost linebackers Sam Acho and Lorenzo Alexander.  On Tuesday they lost yet another linebacker.  Rookie linebacker Alex Okafor was lost for the season with a torn biceps injury.  When it rains, it pours.  I’m not sure I want to wake up Wednesday to find out who the Cards will lose next?

It is bad enough to lose three players for the season but when all three play at the same position, that is a tough pill to swallow.  Not only are all three linebackers but all three are outside linebackers.  It may be something that will be too tough for the Cards to overcome in the end but all you can do is find replacements and move on.

Now, Okafor had only one tackle this season and it was this past week against the New Orleans Saints, however the fact is now the Cards are faced with replacing three guys.  They started that process on Tuesday by adding linebacker Victor So’oto to the roster and signing linebackers Bruce Taylor and Dontay Moch to the practice squad.  Defensive end Mark Anderson was apparently scheduled for a visit to the Cards.  No other details were provided.

Clearly this squad is becoming something much different than what was envisioned in camp even with the initial 53-man roster.  They must trudge through though.  No one is going to start feeling sorry for them.  Unfortunately it is the nature of the business.  The Cards just happen to be getting bitten by the injury bug all at once.
