Arizona Cardinals linebacker John Abraham was arrested in late June for DUI in Georgia it was reported this afternoon.  It was one of multiple charges he faces.  Other details involved in the arrest were not available.

Abraham has missed the first three days of practice.  Cards head coach Bruce Arians was asked by Dan Bickley this afternoon arizonasports.com if he could elaborate any further on his absence seeing as he had earlier deemed it a personal matter.  Arians would not divulge any information at the time.

Abraham, who is the NFL’s current active career sacks leader, including 11.5 he had last season with the Cardinals, seemed to be rebounding from a downwards trend he was experiencing in Atlanta.  He is expected to be a huge factor on the defense for the Cards this season.

The Cards earlier today though had stated they weren’t that concerned with his absence, although they could have been hiding their true feelings on the matter so as no to give away what had actually happened.  It is not known if the current situation has anything to do with him missing all of camp so far but I can tell you it sure would be coincidental if his absence had nothing to do with this situation.  For it to happen in late June and for us to find out about it now and add the fact this situation is probably what is keeping him from camp, tells me he could be in some real trouble here.

I imagine we will find out more in the coming days but right now all I can think about is I hope Abraham can get his life back on track.  He’s been through this once before.  DUI is no joke and comes with serious consequences, not only with the law but most likely with the NFL as well.
