The Arizona Cardinals added a running back to the practice squad on Tuesday and it wasn’t Zach Bauman.  They signed recently released running back Dominique Williams.

Williams spent training camp and preseason with the Minnesota Vikings.  He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Vikings back in May.  He is out of Wagner, where he was third in all-time rushing yardage with 4,435 yards.  He rushed for 1,000 yards in three separate seasons.  He was part of the final cuts made by the Vikings to get down to the 53-man limit on Saturday.

There was an expectation they would probably add a back to the practice squad, however I’m a little surprised at the addition of Williams.  I would have liked the Cards to give Bauman a shot.  We’ll see what he can do though.  Williams had 32 carries for 131 yards, a 4.1 yards-per-carry average.  His longest carry of the preseason went for 22 yards.
