The Arizona Cardinals defense had a tough time much of the day on Sunday in their 25-14 victory over the New York Giants.  Giants quarterback Eli Manning went 26-39 for 277 yards.  He had two touchdowns and two interceptions.  Cards cornerback Patrick Peterson tried to defend some of those completions.

Peterson, in Cards head coach Bruce Arians’ estimation, had his worst day since he took over the team in 2013.  Peterson allowed circumstances get to him on Sunday.  Peterson got called for defensive holding once and pass interference a couple of times.  The defensive holding was very questionable and it got Peterson fired up.  He was later called for an obvious pass interference in the end zone that eventually led to a Giants touchdown.

Every player, star or not, will have their bad days.  It really does lend itself to the thought there really are no true “shutdown” corners in the NFL.  So, at this point we should just chalk it up to a bad day and move on.  You won’t see many like that one yesterday from him.
