Yesterday it was reported that the Arizona Cardinals signed or were on the verge of signing former Arizona State running back Marion Grice.  Today they made the signing official.  In order to make room, the Cards cut punter Drew Butler.

Butler had the punting duties the first three weeks of the season in place of punter Dave Zastudil.  Zasty has been nursing a groin injury since before week one.  Butler and Zasty were active for week one but Zasty was only active to place hold kicks.

Butler was cut during week two preparation but re-signed before the week two game against the New York Giants.  He had one punt for 49 yards this past Sunday in the 23-14 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. There has been no word on Zasty’s status officially but as of right now it appears the Cards are going to hope it is better enough to punt in Denver in two weeks on October 5th against the Broncos.

As for Grice, as I said yesterday, this is a move that makes a lot of locals happy.  We shall see how much action he actually gets.  This puts five running backs on the active roster.
