The Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers have announced their inactives for Saturday’s game in Charlotte

The Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers have provided their inactive players ahead of this afternoon’s NFC Wild Card game in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Game time is 2:20 p.m. Arizona time.

More from Cardinals News

The biggest name on the inactive list for the Cardinals is guard Jonathan Cooper.  There was hope amongst Cardinals fans earlier in the week he could be active and even possibly start.  That clearly isn’t happening.  Now you have to wonder if Cooper has played his last game as an Arizona Cardinal?  His absence is a big disappointment for the Cardinals running game.  The Cardinals had their best two running games this season with Cooper starting.

Other Cardinals names on the list aren’t very surprising.  Of course we all knew quarterback Drew Stanton was out.  If the Cardinals win, hopefully he’ll be able to play next week.  There is no next week though if the Cardinals lose today.

The good news on the inactive list for the Cardinals is defensive tackle Dan Williams is not on it.  He was listed as questionable coming into today’s game.  He is active though, so nice to see given early in the week his status was in doubt.

Cardinals inactives: G Jonathan Cooper, QB Drew Stanton, DE Kareem Martin, WR Brittan Golden, G Anthony Steen, S Chris Clemons, DT Alameda Ta’amu

As for the Carolina Panthers their biggest news may be who is active.  Running back DeAngelo Williams will be active.  That will place more stress on the Cardinals defense to stop the run, something they’ve failed big time in the past two weeks.

Panthers inactives: S Thomas DeCloud, CB James Dockery, LB A.J. Klein, DT Kyle Love, DE Frank Alexander, T David Foucault, G Amini Silatolu

No big news on the inactives for the Panthers, which believe it or not, is something I like to see.  You want to beat the other team with their best.  Of course the Cardinals haven’t been able to oblige much with that this season but at least no new injuries for them this week either.

This also means that linebacker Larry Foote is active.  He missed last weeks game against the San Francisco 49ers.  Foote will be a big key in the middle in helping stop the rushing attack of the Panthers.  They are currently averaging 127.3 yards per game on the ground.
