“Let It Go” signer has been tabbed to open Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale, Arizona on February 1st

The Super Bowl has found its national anthem singer.  Idina Menzel, who sang on the soundtrack of the Disney movie “Frozen”, will sing right before kickoff of Super Bowl XLIX on February 1st.

More from Cardinals News

Menzel was a nice choice.  She has a super good voice, although she was criticized for her live performance a couple of weeks ago on New Years Eve.  She took it all in stride though saying not everything always goes perfect.

The Super Bowl is a world wide stage though.  People will be looking for a flawless performance.  The Super Bowl is one of those events where everything is scrutinized.  Everything.  Right or wrong, that is what will happen.

Local favorite Jordin Sparks sang the national anthem at the last Super Bowl in Glendale.  She is also a favorite at Arizona Cardinals games.  Since that road had been traveled it stood to reason someone else would sing it this time.

She has been numerous nominations for Tony Awards.  Not everyone will like the selection.  There are always haters no matter who is tabbed.  However, for the time we are in now, she is one of the more accomplished entertainers around.  The Super Bowl gets a win for this selection in my opinion.

Also announced was that signer John Legend will be performing “America the Beautiful” before Super Bowl XLIX as well.  Legend is coming off a Golden Globe Award win and a Critics Choice Award win for best original song for the movie “Selma”.

Kickoff for Super Bowl XLIX is 4:30 p.m.  We are just 16 days away from the big game.  The game will be broadcast on NBC.
