Arizona Cardinals: Five Players To Watch In Camp

The Arizona Cardinals open camp on July 31st in Glendale at University of Phoenix Stadium

There are a number of players we will have our eye on come August in training camp.  Here are the five Arizona Cardinals players though who should gain a lot of interest the eyes of fans and media this summer.

Keep in mind everything we think now could all change by the time camp is in full swing.  Of course the hope is everyone that is healthy now keeps that status going into camp.

More from Cardinals News

1. Carson Palmer

How can Palmer not be the number one guy?  He is reportedly now at 100 percent and completely cleared for contact in camp.  How much contact he actually gets remains to be seen but you can bet the Cardinals are going to be real careful with his usage in the preseason.  He’ll need to play in a couple of games though.  You don’t want his first action to be the regular season.

2. Andre Ellington

Again, returning from injury, Ellington will be very interesting to watch.  Not only is he returning from injury but he will also be pushed by rookie David Johnson from Northern Iowa.  Johnson possess the same tools as Ellington does.

3. Michael Floyd

I made a bold prediction a month ago or so that he would be traded before the start of the season.  I still haven’t ruled it out but I sure would like to see him finally have the success that he has to potential to have.

4. Rodney Gunter

Everyone seems to be raving about this relatively unknown defensive end from Deleware State.  He is someone that ultimately could push the other ends on the roster for playing time.  Like coach Bruce Arians always says, no one will be given a job.  Somehow I believe Gunter will get that message loud and clear.

5. Justin Bethel

Many people are giving Jerraud Powers the starting nod over Bethel at the right cornerback position to replace Antonio Cromartie.  That group includes me, however I would not rule Bethel out.  He has exuded confidence in being able to step up to the plate and get the job done and done well.  Let’s see how much he can push Powers for that starting position.
