Player profile of RB Marion Grice as Arizona Cardinals training camp starts July 31st

As we prepare for Arizona Cardinals training camp reporting date of July 31st, it is time for our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with RB Marion Grice.  Grice is in his second NFL season with the Cardinals out of Arizona State University.

2014 season: Marion Grice started his season with the San Diego Chargers on their practice squad.  The ASU product had been wanted by many Cardinals fans and they finally got their wish when the Cardinals signed him off the Chargers practice squad in September.  He had just 15 carries for 41 yards and one touchdown last season.  He also scored a touchdown in the playoff game against the Carolina Panthers.

2015 season projection: The Cardinals have Andre Ellington at 100 percent.  They drafted David Johnson to be his backup.  That leaves Grice fighting for the third back between him, Stepfan Taylor and Kerwynn Williams.  They also have Robert Hughes.  There is no way the Cardinals keep all six.  They probably keep four, maybe five, of those six.  It will be a fight in training camp for Grice.

Grice has overcome odds before.  I give him a decent shot to win a spot on the final roster for the Cardinals.  The only two in my mind that will definitely make it are Ellington and Johnson.  I think Hughes does too since he is more of a fullback.  That leaves one or two spots for Grice, Taylor, and Williams.
