Player profile of T D.J. Humphries as Arizona Cardinals training camp starts July 31st

As we prepare for Arizona Cardinals training camp reporting date of July 31st, it is time for our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with T D.J. Humphries.  The rookie was drafted in the first-round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

More from Cardinals News

2014 season: Humphries was a junior at the University of Florida.  He played in 10 games for the Gators.  He missed two games due to injury.

2015 season projection: Coach Bruce Arians said he won’t just give a starting job to anyone but Humphries looks to compete for a starting job as a right tackle.  His natural position is left tackle, however that is currently taken by Jared Veldheer and we know he won’t be moving anywhere.  Humphries has to compete with Bobby Massie and Bradley Sowell but something tells me he will give each of them a good run for their money.

That’s a good sign that Humphries is figuring things out quickly and maturing at a good rate.  That sounds like something Jonathan Cooper had a hard time doing a couple of preseasons ago before he broke his leg and still seemed to be working those things out last season in his return.

Humphries may not start the season as a starter but he will see playing time, you can count on that.  Competition is a good thing and even if he doesn’t start it is nice to know the Cardinals have some depth finally on the offensive line.
