Player profile of CB Shaquille Richardson as Arizona Cardinals training camp continues

As we have reached the end of the third week of Arizona Cardinals training camp, we continue our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with CB Shaquille Richardson.  Richardson is in his first camp with the Cardinals and is one year removed from the University of Arizona.

2014 season: The former University of Arizona product has already made the rounds around football since being drafted in 2014.  He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth-round of the 2014 NFL Draft but was cut at the end of training camp.  He was then placed on the Steelers practice squad.  He was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs in the offseason but was cut and then the Cardinals picked him up right at the start of training camp this year.

2015 season projection: He’s fighting a numbers game.  He is currently 5th on the depth chart at left corner.  That’s a tough position to crack the Cardinals roster at.  He likely doesn’t make the roster, although he was pretty involved on Saturday night against the San Diego Chargers, making two tackles.

No doubt the kid has talent.  He is just fighting the fact there are other guys ahead of him on the depth chart who may not even make this team.  Patrick Peterson of course has his starting spot solidified on that left side.  Jimmy Legree and Cariel Brooks are fighting for a backup spot behind him.  Brooks played really well in the Chargers game on Saturday night.
