Player profile of CB C.J. Roberts as Arizona Cardinals training camp continues

As we have almost reached the end of Arizona Cardinals training camp, we continue our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with CB C.J. Roberts.  Roberts is an undrafted rookie free agent out of Colorado State-Pueblo.

2014 season: He was a first-team all-conference for Division II Colorado-State Pueblo.  He had 212 tackles and 14 interceptions in four seasons for the Thunderwolves.

2015 season: I’m not sure he has done enough in the preseason to make the 53-man roster.  I’m not even sure he makes the first round of cuts, which need to be made sometime after Sunday night’s game up until Tuesday afternoon.  He is fighting a huge crowd of defensive backs that have shown more to us during camp and in preseason games.

The fact is even if he had played well in camp and in the preseason, I’m still not sure it would have been enough to make the squad.  Stranger things have happened but with guys like Jerraud Powers and Justin Bethel ahead of you on the depth chart and fighting for a spot against guys like Jimmy Legree and Cariel Brooks who have both shown flashes of good moments this preseason, it will be tough to make this squad. However he does have a chance to get himself on film this weekend for maybe another club.
