Arizona Cardinals start slow on offense but turn it on in second quarter

It looked like early on the Arizona Cardinals were going to have the same type of game against the Detroit Lions that they had last week in the loss to the St. Louis Rams.  Slow offensive start and failure to capitalize on two early Lions turnovers had fans wondering what was going on?

The defense gave up a touchdown and it was 7-0 Lions early.  It has been all Cardinals since then.  They lead the Lions 28-7 at halftime.

The Cardinals at one point were trailing in total yardage 134 to -1.  That my friends is not good no matter who you slice it.  However they still only trailed 7-0 at the time.  The Cardinals have created four turnovers on defense that have the Lions reeling.

Interceptions by safety Rashad Johnson and defensive end Cory Redding and two Lions fumbles have been the complete reason why the Lions have not been able to do much so far this afternoon.  Cornerback Jerraud Powers was beat on the Lions touchdown drive and the run defense was not good early but have since had mostly positive plays.

The most impressive drive of the first half was a 99-yard drive that really didn’t get going until 2nd and 10 from the Cards one-yard line.  A 49-yard pass from quarterback Carson Palmer to receiver John Brown and a 40-yard run by back Chris Johnson was topped off by a David Johnson touchdown.  David Johnson has two touchdowns on the afternoon.

The other touchdowns have been scored by tight end Darren Fells and receiver John Brown.  Detroit tried to get something going in the final minute and a half but the Cardinals defense stopped them to maintain the large lead.  The Cardinals will receive the ball to start the second half.
