The Arizona Cardinals are now officially on vacation until training camp

What happens when you are doing so well at work?  You are sent home early right?  Well for most of us that isn’t true.  However for the Arizona Cardinals, that was the reality on Wednesday.

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he was very pleased where the Cardinals are at right now in their progression.  So much so he cancelled the last day of mini-camp scheduled for Thursday.

One can hope this only leads to great things come training camp and the regular season.  Now the Cardinals will not have to report back until July 28th in Glendale.

Arians figured since the Cardinals were performing well on the practice field he’d wrap up mini-camp Wednesday.  The other thing is this allows the Cardinals to leave camp healthy and return to training camp healthy.

This sends a good message to both veterans and young players.  The veterans can see it as a break and sends the message if you work hard, you are rewarded.  That same message can be received by rookies and younger players but it also gives them an immediate glimpse into what it can be like to play under Arians if you do what you are asked of you.

One interesting piece of news to come out of the mini-camp happened on Tuesday.  Arians said the center position is A.Q. Shipley’s to lose.

While that is likely true at the moment, we know these thoughts tend to change once training camp starts.  It was a battle between Ted Larsen and A.Q. Shipley going into training camp last year.  They performed so poorly, the Cardinals brought back Lyle Sendlein.

This also will tell Boehm that no job is given to anyone.  Something tells me this is both a plea to Shipley to push himself, something he failed to do last year, and a plea to Boehm to come prepared and ready to prove himself.
