The Arizona Cardinals have concluded mini-camp with next stop training camp in Glendale

We continue our annual look at player by player from A to Z on the current Arizona Cardinals roster as we are now entering the final stages of the offseason before the start of training camp. The next stop is training camp on July 28th.

In this profile we look at cornerback Elie Bouka.  Bouka is a rookie out of the University of Calgary.

2015: Bouka was injured all of last season with a torn left Achilles.

2016: Bouka drew interest from a couple of teams but signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent on May 2nd, a couple of days after the 2016 NFL Draft.  It was known there was interest from the Kansas City Chiefs as well.

Bouka is known to be very athletic but his injury, which kept him out all of his senior season in Calgary, also missed all of the offseason workouts, camps, OTA’s.  His status for training camp is unknown.

If Steve Keim is taking a chance on Bouka, then there must be a chance he will be ready come training camp.  There does seem to be a competition for backup corner, behind starters Patrick Peterson and Justin Bethel.

Bouka has said one of his role models is Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu.  He told the Kansas City Star that he likes Mathieu’s passion.

If Bouka comes to Arizona with the same passion, it might work out for him.  Mathieu himself of course is coming off a torn ACL and hopes to be back sometime in training camp as well.  Once they are both on the field in August, hopefully Bouka can learn a thing or two from him.

Hopefully up to this point he has been in the ear of Mathieu, listening to him and what he has to say about his experiences in the first three seasons of being in the NFL.  Don’t rule out Bouka and his chances.
