Arizona Cardinals profiles: Chris Hubert
By Scott Allen
The Arizona Cardinals have opened training camp in Glendale
We continue our annual look at player by player from A to Z on the current Arizona Cardinals roster as we have now reached the start of training camp. Players had their first practice on Friday afternoon.
In this profile we look at receiver Chris Hubert. He is a rookie out of Fayetteville State.
Hubert is the career-leading receiver at Fayetteville State with 19 touchdowns, 129 receptions, and 1,784 yards receiving. He is a bit smaller at 5-9, 155 lbs. Yet another small school player trying to make it big time in the NFL with the Cardinals.

2016: Looking ahead to this season, Hubert has a Mt.Everest-like hill to climb to even smell a chance to make it on the 53-man roster here. As we’ve well chronicled, the top four receiving spots are locked. There are about 5 guys fighting for maybe two spots after that.
With Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, John Brown, and J.J. Nelson as the top four receivers, after that there is still Jaron Brown, Brittan Golden, Amir Carlisle, and Jaxon Shipley to discuss, not to mention the other receivers in the same boat as Hubert, Rico Richardson and Marquis Bundy.
Hubert’s size may ultimately do him in but history will tell you that isn’t a huge issue with the Cardinals. At this point Hubert may be playing for a job with someone else.
Never say never but Hubert’s chances appear to be slim to stay with the Cardinals in any capacity. He will be the victim of a numbers game, so it may not matter how well he performs, at least from a Cardinals standpoint. Play exceedingly well, he may get noticed by someone else for a shot on their practice squad.
