Important for Cards Players to Lay Low for Next Five Weeks
By Scott Allen
The Arizona Cardinals should stay out of the news for the most part for the next five weeks. If that happens, it should be good news to us all. Let’s hope as they head into their vacation before training camp at the end of July, that they manage to lay low and enjoy their families and friends without getting into any trouble.
The off-season team activities have ended. Next time the players get together, it will be in Flagstaff. They will start their training camp a week earlier this year thanks to the Hall of Fame Game against the New Orleans Saints on August 5th. That is seven weeks from today. It will be here before you know it.
This is the time to finish healing from wounds, get your personal things in order so as there are no distractions. The Cards need to come out of the gate strong and I’m not talking just the regular season, but the preseason as well. Preseason results don’t always translate into regular season results. We all know that. However, it is important that everyone is on the same page once they take that practice field in Flagstaff.
So, no pickup basketball games. No stupid motorcycle rides, cliff-diving, hang gliding, surfing, or any other activity that could jeopardize their status on the field. This team can be dangerous if healthy and focused. Eben with this season’s tough schedule, I still see this team as having potential to win 10 or 11 games. Of course, we know there is always potential. It’s a matter of translating that potential to the field.
