When the Arizona Cardinals landed in Florida after their game on Sunday against the New Orelans Saints, it was thought at the time Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman would remain the starter despite his poor performance to date.  On Monday, according to the Bucs, the plan was still to go with Freeman.  What a difference 48 hours makes.

On Wednesday, the Bucs announced that rookie quarterback Mike Glennon would get the start against the Cards.  Even with all the injuries the Cards have suffered, I still gave them a good chance to win in Tampa against Freeman.  Not, I think it is a great chance for the Cards and might be their best opportunity for a road win until Jacksonville in November.

Glennon didn’t have a great preseason.  He went 33-70 for 397 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.  That isn’t Earth shattering by any stretch of the imagination.  Then again, Freeman wasn’t doing so well in the first three games of the regular season. Freeman was only 43-94 for 571 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

So that begs the question, will the Cards have to prepare any differently.  We don’t know officially as this is breaking news, however, my best guess would be no, it changes nothing.  I’m sure the Cards had to suspect a move like this could be made and have made preparations accordingly.   What surprises me though is the Bucs willingness to let the cat out of the bag now and maybe not until Friday or Saturday.  They could have at least kept the Cards guessing until then.  Either way, this is a great opportunity for the Cards to take advantage of and come away with a road victory this Sunday.
