NFL Rankings: Arizona Cardinals Move Up

facebooktwitterreddit

The Arizona Cardinals are coming off a 30-20 victory over the Washington Redskins and sit atop the NFC West with a 4-1 record.  They are half a game up on the San Francisco 49ers and one up on the Seattle Seahawks.  The Cards have already defeated the Niners once though.

This week’s power rankings around the media this week really proves just how much people are split on who the Cards really are and what they can accomplish.  Everyone had them moving up after the Sunday victory.  The NFL Network didn’t even think they were one of the best six teams in the NFC, much less the NFL.  However nfl.com thought a little higher of them putting them as the eight best team in the NFL this week.

Here is how they ranked them:

NFL.com – 8

ESPN.com – 6

Fansided.com – 10

CBSSports.com – 8

AZcentral.com – 7

Washington Post – 9

Detroit Free Press – 8

SBNation.com – 5

Denver Post – (7th in the NFC)

So, as you see a mixed result.  ESPN, who usually is not that impressed with the Cards, this week ranked them sixth.  They also ranked the coaches to this point and ranked Bruce Arians number one.  Denver is clearly not that impressed with the Cards and I can only think they are going off the game solely in Denver.  I have them at five this week.

In the end it only matters who wins it all.  There is no right or wrong.  Well, the Denver Post is wrong but after that the Cards just need to be concerned with winning.
