Arizona Cardinals Starting To Get Some Respect

The NFL Power Rankings are out for this week and the Arizona Cardinals are seeing a little more respect

Many outlets this week started buying into the Arizona Cardinals after their 28-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.  Some, but not all, have Arizona at number one in their power rankings despite having the best record in the NFL at the midway point of the season.

More from Cardinals News

We had the Cardinals at number one this week, eclipsing the Denver Broncos and the Cowboys.  One outlet, ESPN, is still a holdout on the Cardinals.  Their writers still don’t have full confidence in the Cards.  I’m not sure what more they can do right now?  They had the New England Patriots at number one.  You can’t argue too much with that but they have two losses.

I don’t really care when a win or loss takes place in a season.  They all count the same.  I look at the entire body of work instead of what have you done for me lately.  That’s one reason why I don’t have the Oakland Raiders at number 32 with an 0- 8 record.  I think they play better than the New York Jets, despite the barely beating them in week one for their only victory.

The New York Daily News has them at number one explaining that you can’t overlook their record.

CBSSports.com has the Cardinals at number one explaining that they really are impressed with the Cardinals weapons.

Newsday has the Cardinals at number three.  They actually dropped them one spot despite the win over the Cowboys.

Washington Post has the Cardinals at number two with no explanation why.

ProFootballTalk.com has the Cardinals at number one.  They like Bruce Arians attitude of not wanting any other team in their locker room for the Super Bowl.

ESPN.com has the Cardinals at number two.  The win over the Cowboys on the road was not impressive as the win at home for the Patriots over the Broncos.

Our colleagues over at Revenge of the Birds have the Cardinals at number one and taking it a step further saying they are the best team in the NFL.

It’s all a matter of opinion.  Clearly there are some people that want to buy into the Cardinals but can’t bring themselves to admit they like what they are doing.  Hey, the record speaks for itself and they aren’t beating pushovers.

Newsday is the one that perplexes me the most.  How do you drop the Cardinals a spot after a win?  Especially a road win in Dallas?  No matter how good you are for some it still comes down to an east coast bias.  The only thing that will matter though is the one who gets the ring at the end.
