4. Chris Gedney

Gedney played three seasons for the Arizona Cardinals in 1997, 1998, and 2000.  He officially was a backup tight end in each of those seasons, only starting three games each of the three seasons.  He was originally drafted by Chicago Bears in the 1993 NFL Draft.  He did not play in 1996 or 1999.

Gedney caught 55 passes for 617 yards in his three seasons in the desert.  He caught five touchdowns his first two seasons with the team but did not catch any in 2000.

Best season as a Cardinal: In 1997 he caught 23 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns.

Best game as a Cardinal: On November 15, 1998 Gedney caught three passes for 67 yards, a 22.3 yard-per-catch average, in a 35-28 loss to the Cowboys.

5. Rob Housler

This is how lean the Cardinals have been at tight end.  Rob Housler made the top five list.  However based on his number of receptions and yards, he has to make the list.

He was drafted in the third round out of Florida Atlantic in 2011 and many thought he’d be the guy to finally put the Cardinals on the map as far as tight ends went.  However despite the number of receptions and yards he still has only scored one regular season touchdown and that didn’t come until his third season in 2013.

Housler is known more for dropping important passes than catching them.  However he continues to remain on the roster and I think he’ll be under the microscope again in 2015 despite 105 receptions for 1103 yards as an Arizona Cardinals tight end.

Best season as a Cardinal: In 2013 Housler had 39 receptions for 454 yards and his lone NFL touchdown.

Best game as a Cardinal: On November 10, 2013 Housler caught four passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in a 27-24 victory over the Houston Texans.
