The Arizona Cardinals still sit in first place of the NFC West at 4-2
Say what you want about who the Arizona Cardinals have defeated and who they have lost to. The fact is they’ve still beaten up the teams they lost to and have mistakes that can be shored up quickly.
Some fans have said the Cardinals have lost to the two toughest teams they’ve faced. True but a sign of a good team is beating the bad ones with little or no trouble and they’ve proven they can do that.
There is no doubt they made a lot of mistakes in both of their losses to the St. Louis Rams and the Pittsburgh Steelers. However in both games despite their mistakes they still had shots at winning both games late in the fourth quarter.
Much of that has to do with the way the Cardinals were still able to move the ball between the 20 yard lines without much difficulty. Against the Rams, they hit field goals instead of scoring touchdowns. Against the Steelers, they moved the ball but turnovers, bad penalties, unfortunate officiating, and even a missed field goal contributed to the Cardinals demise on Sunday.
Arians: Mistakes are "easily correctable". #AZvsPIT
— Arizona Cardinals (@AZCardinals) October 19, 2015
It is so very true. The mistakes are easily correctable. They still hold a two-game lead on the Seattle Seahawks and essentially a three-game lead on the San Francisco 49ers right now by virtue of their victory over them in week three.
So the notion the Cardinals are overrated or are garbage and can only beat really bad teams just isn’t true. You can’t fault the Cardinals for who they’ve beaten. As I’ve already had to argue this season, you can only beat who they schedule for you.
Don’t go jumping off any ledge. Don’t be hating on the Cardinals and if you are and call yourself a fan, please don’t. Real fans will recognize the Cardinals do have work to do but can correct the mistakes they’ve made.
I’m not going to sit here and promise they will beat everyone from here on out because they won’t. They will still make mistakes. They will still frustrate you at times. However if they win the games they are supposed to win and correct a few mistakes there is no reason why this team still can’t finish 11-5 or 12-4. It will be tough no doubt but stay the course. The NFC West is still theirs for the taking.
